India : Fix Rs. 18,000 as minimum wage in unorganised sector: CITU
Leaders of the Centre for Indian Trade Unions have demanded that a minimum wage of Rs. 18,000 be fixed for employees in the unorganised sector in all States. They were
speaking at the district CITU convention held at Channarayapatna on Saturday.
CITU State general secretary S. Varalakshmi said the Seventh Pay Commission for Union government employees had fixed the minimum wage at Rs. 18,000. Similarly, the employees of the unorganised sector should also get this benefit, she said. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, soon after assuming office, promised to create two crore jobs in five years. He has failed to fulfil his promise,” she alleged.
She also urged authorities to take stern action against those who beat up Dalits in the name of cow slaughter.
