Pakistan : Union's demo against Gepco appointment
GUJRANWALA, Aug 24: All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Workers’ Union and the officers union protested on Aug 23 against the appointment of Muzafar Ali Abbasi as the private chief executive of the
Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco).
Protesters locked up offices and burnt an effigy of Mr Abbasi in the protest rally.
The procession, led by Officers Union President Mirza Faisal Nafees and CBA Regional Chairman Iqbal Dar, started from the Gepco headquarters and culminated at the general bus stand. Thousands of workers were present who flashed banners, placards and banners. They said a retired official would not be accepted as Gepco chief.
