Pakistan : Regularisation demanded
KARACHI, Sep 19: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Sajjan (CBA) union has urged authorities to regularise the services of 50 rescue workers who have been working on contract since 2008, though
several others hired later had been regularised.
In a statement issued on Sep 18, union chief Zulfiqar Shah said that while the services of 50 workers employed in the urban search and rescue department were not being regularised, the services of 50 drivers in the machine pool section and over 1,300 city wardens had been regularised.
He said the federal Disaster Management Authority had spent over Rs1 million on the training of each rescuer and specialised training had been provided by the army as well as foreign experts.
