Pakistan : Polio workers protest against non-payment of salary
RAWALPINDI, Jan 30: The female health workers and polio workers have protested against non-payment of salaries to the workers deployed in Anti-polio drive duty in Rawalpindi.
The Punjab government has decided
not to pay salaries to female health workers, Sanitary patrol workers , employees engaged in anti-polio awareness campaign and polio workers from the next anti-polio campaign.
Meanwhile lady health workers, polio workers along with employees of health Department have also announced and refused to provide their services in next anti-polio campaign if they will not be paid salaries.
The workers boycotted the meeting called by the department for issuing new guidelines and said that they have not been paid salaries for the last two months, while now they also refused to pay them salaries.
A large number of polio workers, and ladies health workers staged a demonstration in front of Deputy Commissioner Office and announced that if their legitimate demands are not met they will stage a sit-in in front of Deputy Commissioner Office.
