Pakistan : Call for arresting those responsible for Gadani deaths
KARACHI, Jan 13: Addressing a rally after a condolence meeting held on Jan 12 for those who died in recent accidents at the Gadani ship-breaking yard, labourers and trade union activists
claimed that the owners of the ships and the provincial authorities were responsible for the recent deaths and demanded their arrest.
The condolence meeting was held at yard number 52 in the afternoon for the six labourers who died while performing their duty at the ship-breaking yard.
Later funeral prayers in absentia for the deceased were offered after which a public meeting was held, which was addressed by several trade union leaders and activists.
Addressing the rally, the trade union leaders demanded that those responsible for the recent deaths at the yard be immediately arrested and punished.
